HOPE STARTS HERE STORIES

Adah

Adah was born to a very poor family. She is 28 years old and has a four-year-old little boy. A friend introduced her to Mahmek, a man who would give her work. But Mahmek was a pimp who forced Adah into sexual slavery – she was on call for clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Mahmek threatened Adah and her son, saying he would hand them over to the police so they would be deported, or would throw them out to live on the streets.

Adah's son was forced to watch how his mother was raped, he heard her cries, and the insults and mockery of the men who came into their room, often drunk, dirty, and violent. The police contacted us and asked if we could find a place for Adah and her son. Even though they had no identification or legal status, the police issued a safe passage so Adah and her son could travel with our team on a boat to safety.

Adah and her son are now in one of our Project Rescue safe homes. They have a room together, her son has new clothes, toys,  and space to play. He has started school and the teachers say he is a bright little boy. Adah is going to classes and would like to work helping others as a social worker.
