Life had already been marked by loss and uncertainty. Her mother passed away when Sofia was five, and not long after, her father went to prison. With no stable home, she and her six siblings were separated and sent to live with different relatives.

Sofia stayed for a time with her aunt and uncle, but it was difficult for them to care for another child. Many days, she didn’t have enough to eat and often felt forgotten. When she arrived at Happy Horizons, everything began to change.

For the first time, Sofia experienced consistent love, safety, and care. She enrolled in school, began to make friends, and started to learn about God’s love for her. Slowly, the fear and sadness that once filled her days were replaced by joy and hope.

Today, Sofia is thriving. She loves to sing in chapel, helps the younger children with their homework, and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. Her story is a reminder of how stability, compassion, and faith can transform a child’s life—one step, one day, one act of love at a time.
