Reshma prayed for a way out—a better life far from the red-light district.

Born into extreme poverty in Southern Asia, her childhood was marked by loss and fear.

After her father died, she had no home and slept under a tree at just eleven years old. When her aunt offered her a place to stay, Reshma believed rescue had come—but instead, her aunt led her into the red-light area, where survival meant hiding in shadows and pleading for scraps of food.

As Reshma grew older, she discovered she was pregnant. When her daughter was born, her aunt demanded she sell the baby for money.

Desperation settled in her heart, and Reshma’s prayers felt unanswered—until a woman connected to Project Rescue noticed her tears at the marketplace. She listened without judgment and guided Reshma to our partner’s home, a place of safety, warmth, and grace.

One evening, staff asked, “Reshma, what do you dream of doing?”

She answered softly, “I want to learn tailoring.”

That simple wish felt like God’s voice breaking chains. In the sewing room, Reshma’s hands discovered purpose.

Each stitch taught her patience; every finished garment reminded her that God sees her worth.

Now Reshma learns to craft dresses, uniforms, and everyday clothes to support herself and her daughter. Neighbors admire her work and say, “She will make her child proud.”

Her little girl attends school and laughs freely—two gifts Reshma once only dreamed of.

She plans to open a small tailoring shop where she can mentor other at-risk women, guiding them toward safety and confidence. Through education and God’s provision, Reshma found not only a skill but a renewed hope—a life stitched together by faith and community.
