Be The Change You Want To See
There are many ways to get involved in helping victims of sexual slavery. Whether through utilizing your skills in art, music or even running, you can make a difference in the lives of countless women and children across our world. Stephanie Harrison decided to take action. She recently planned a 5K Run/Walk to benefit Project Rescue and see lives changed.
I have been passionate about doing my part to end human trafficking for years. I heard David Grant speak at a meeting many years ago. I was so moved, I bought the book Beyond the Soiled Curtain. I read it in one night and cried the entire time. God broke my heart for the women and children who have to live in slavery.
After that I began educating myself by reading materials and attending conferences. I received training about human trafficking and learned how to work with victims one on one. As I did that I began connecting with others that shared my passion, and since then have discovered so many ways to help.
For me, I love to run, I love to plan events, and I love getting people together for a united cause.
My friend, who is now serving in Southeast Asia, started Run4One 5K a few years before we picked up her torch. She shared with me about her experience and I was inspired.
One of our mutual friends wanted to partner with me, so it just seemed like a perfect way to raise awareness and funds on behalf of those in sexual slavery—Project Rescue, as well as our city’s local safe house.
Stephanie’s interest in running offered a great opportunity for her to impact the lives of sexually exploited women and children across the globe. No matter what interests or hobbies you may have, you can affect change by using them to impact lives through Project Rescue.
